Mar 24, 2019 Cancun Yucatan Mexico
Mexico and I have a history. My childhood summers included spending several weeks camping on the beach in Mexico. My mother would drive me and my 3 siblings there from Utah.. CRAZY! I can’t imagine doing this by myself once, let alone multiple times. However, from this I have a deep fondness for Mexico. It’s a place that sticks with me long after I’ve returned home. I was really excited to take my children there for the first time. Making it their 40th country!
We stayed at Club Med Cancun Yucatan, an all-inclusive family resort. It has several calm white sand beaches, its own coral reef, with a HUGE variety of land and water sports for all ages and adventurers. Small details make it perfect for visiting with children… And lightyears from camping on the beach with my mom.
They’ve recently redone a section called Aguamarina. This section is all about family. With a secluded white sand beach right out from the rooms and a perfect kid pool complete with splash pad. The biggest selling point for me is the newly designed rooms. Staying with kids in a hotel room can be hard, and claustrophobic! Honestly I prefer a rental home set up. This re-designed family area felt more like a mini apartment. We had a master bed/bath, living room, balcony with an outdoor shower to get all the sand off, and down the hallway a guest bath plus an addition bed/bath with two beds for the kids.
It is distinctly separate from staying in a hotel and it is the perfect place to relax, while staying within driving distance of Tulum, cenotes, and Chichén Itzá Mayan Ruins.
What Does All-Inclusive Mean?
Little things that most hotels charge for are included and unlimited with your room rate at all-inclusive hotels. This includes all meals, Children’s Clubs, unlimited water and land sports, open bar and snacking, day and night entertainment, even gratuities! My kids went crazy on ordering virgin pina coladas daily!
At Club Med Cancun Yucatan here is a small sampling of activities we did that are included with our stay:
- Scuba Center
- Flying Trapeze
- Fitness Classes
Honestly all you really need is a water bottle, beach bag, and hat and you’re all set for Mexico! However, a few extra perks never hurts either.
