Apr 10, 2017 my future self
How many of you have a future self? He/She is basically you but just a tad more glorified. I think we all do this to a certain extent. It makes us feel like, although we are not there yet, we are planning for a brighter future. A future when we have more time, more energy. For me it’s when the kids are older and hopefully more mature, or when I am older and hopefully more mature. ha!
I am going to eat better. Foods like kale and green smoothies
Future me is organized… I only hold onto things that add to my happiness
I am flexible on account of daily yoga, of course
Most importantly I like to think of the future me as spiritually evolved.
But truthfully future me doesn’t exist. I’ve thought about her for years and yet she is still nothing more than a good intention. That version of myself will stay on my checklist unless present me takes action and makes positive changes. Present me really has all the power.
You will all watch present me evolve, as a parent and a woman into the future self that I’ve often envisioned me to be. I know now what makes my soul on fire and I think this year I will awaken that spirit. I feel alive when I am in the world. Experiencing beautiful things; which are feelings and relationships and not just tasks. Simply stated:
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive” Howard Thurman
My future self is presently here with me now as I type. I feel her, love her, trust her. I worry. But I am also satisfied with the knowledge that I am doing what I am suppose to do to nurture myself. I am going to learn new principles from different cultures and I am going to have to figure out how to maintain and keep these truths with me no matter where I live. I am looking forward to feeling a flutter of expansion in my heart for humankind. I am looking forward to moments with his warm hand in mine as we watch our kids elevate us- time suspended for a moment.
