Mar 14, 2018 Top things to Experience in Singapore
We spent one week in Singapore with our children ages 6, 4, and 1. I would say you could comfortably see the city in 3-4 days. You can watch our week HERE
Singapore is a family friendly place with easy to use public transportation, plenty of people who speak English, and kind locals. The food is wonderful and let’s just talk about all the shopping malls! There are more shopping malls here than anywhere else I’ve EVER been and I definitely indulged a little. It’s impossible not too. All the locals are very fashionable and the city is very tidy and clean. What more could you want for some R&R?
Garden’s by the Bay
This is a show piece of garden artistry! Even if you don’t care for plants this place will amaze you! The architecture alone is a marvel. This is a must see in Singapore. Kids and adults a like will love the flower displays, sculptures, and exhibits here. Plus in the evening they do a beautiful light show. If you have time to only do one thing in Singapore this is what I would recommend as the must do.
This is a huge are in the city that is designated for outdoor space as a tropical garden . It is really big so decide before hand what you would like to see. There are loads of families having picnics by the lake and playing in the different areas of the garden. You can meander through boardwalks and elevated pathways which take you through different habitats. Plus it is a UNESCO world heritage sight! It is unique enough that everyone in our family really enjoyed it.
This museum a beautiful flower shaped building sitting right on the beautiful Marina Bay Sans. Our kids loved the animation section because they were able to draw a picture, scan it in, and see their drawing come to life on a big screen in front of them.
Shopping is more like a sport here with how many high end shopping malls exist next to each other. There are boutiques, China Town, and Little India just to give you a taste of the variety here. The must see shopping areas are Orchard Road, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, and VivoCity for mall shopping. For markets hit up Burgis street, Little India, and Haji Lane! You can literally shop until you drop! Plus the kids clothes are darling as you can tell from Wren’s dress above
