what’s your brand?

As this growing thing happens each year I become more aware of who and what is worth my energy. It’s simply figuring out your own personal brand of self. My brand of person rarely has doubt. I prefer people who like and seek for unusual experiences. Whose mannerisms are happy, reflective, and easy going. This would fit the description of any one in my close circle.

You probably don’t really know much about me aside from what I look like in a picture or what I have put on this blog. My name is M’Kenzie. I am tiny. Like pick me up and whirl me around in one arm tiny. But I have a very distinct brand of self that is made up of my humor, the type of people I enjoy being around, and how I spend my time.

I am also Five Take Flight.

It took Derek and me some time and a lot of back and forth to settle on the name. I had a little scrappy notebook that I was penning into for days. I was cataloging things that resonate with me in my life. It was a brief list of family, birds, and traveling. I began to mix all 3 ideas together and as a result I had a lot of bird/nest imagery and travel/adventure words filling up the pages.

For example:

Going Far Always Home

Journey Home

Nest of Travelers

Under my Wing

Far and Free

Feather our Dreams

World of Five

You get the picture I think. From this Five Take Flight was born.

My overall brand in life is my family. My home. My home has everyone it will ever need tucked snuggly in their beds tonight. The tree is still twinkling, fire is dancing, and my cup of tea is steaming. There’s something so fresh about a New Year! This year I am going to stamp my family’s brand of positive attributes out. So that hopefully year by year and discovery by discovery we will have an awareness of who we all really are as people.

A big Happy New Year to my darling.

You’ve made me sparkle brighter than anyone ever could by loving me the way you do. I’m yours. It’s always been effortless with you. I’m sorry if this year I didn’t make it so. I’m sorry if this year we both had to experience some change and find understanding for one another in a whole new light. We’ve always been effortless together. I’m glad we will continue to be.

    Hey guys !
You are amazing!!! I wish u all the very best on your travels 😉 I am sure it will be a wonderful year!

I love traveling myself. I am European, so lived and worked in some of the countries u are about to visit. Why not Slovakia thou?!? Check it out:

I personally recommend castles (over 100) and High Tatras 😉
U can find some ideas in here:

I am currently working as an Au Pair (live in nanny) in US. I’ve spent one year with lovely family (4 children) in Seattle. I’ve got the chance to travel the West Coast and I moved to DC for another year. Exploring East Coast now 🙂
My year will end in summer (August) so I was thinking what to do next. Seeing your video made me thirsty to keep exploring.
I do travel alone, however I always try to find ways how to cover my stay/ expenses. (Beside of holidays and few days trips not worth mentioning here)
I’ ve done an internship in India (at Slovakian embassy), worked with kids in Spain, voluntarily thought kids English in Hungary, worked for a great family business in Wales (where I’ve also lived with a host family btw). I love meeting new people and FEELING ALIVE 😀
I have a Master’s degree and unfortunately my parents think I am wasting my precious time not working on my career. I believe people should do what makes them happy. Some enjoy 9am-5pm working routine, others are more like us 🙂 seeking freedom and breathing the world’s beauty.

I don’t have my own website. not a blogger, not a writer. the only link I can copy here is my Facebook account. I guess I wouldn’t be able to submit you this comment without filling in the required parts. . .

    Take care and good luck!!!!

PS: In case you decide to visit Slovakia (and I am back home) feel free to reach out and be guests in my parents house 🙂 it’s big! Haaa

My brand is to wake up every morning and thank God for the breath he gave me to do so.
To love uncondionally, find no fault in others unless you are willing to accept your own. See the world in all colors and accept all cultures. See life through a child’s eyes. Respect and admire the story of an elderly person’s life. Listen, don’t just hear. Take time to smell freshly cut grass, hear the leaves rustle in the wind. Hold the hand of a stranger if they need it. Give comfort to those who are on their journey HOME. Accept the path life has given to you thus far, but don’t be afraid to take a fork in the road. Most of all forgive those who have hurt you and forgive yourself. There is beauty in everything if you’re open to seeing it.

My brand is to endure every joy, pain & person that enters into my life. No matter the outcome my faith resides in the Lord! My God is a big God and everyday He grants me life again, is another day to share the gift of joy and happiness! We need more love & peace in this world. Although I am one person & I can’t change the entire world, however; I CAN help change the world around me in my community, through my children at school, at my church or even in a restaurant. People watch us more than we realize and its up to us to make the world a better place all it takes is a simple smile and a small splash of joy! 🙂

Hello, Five Take Flight! My sister saw your travel nanny video on facebook and sent it to me saying I may be a perfect fit, and I agree! You seem to be a soulfully beautiful, curious, conscientious family intent on getting the most out of life. I am working on a special application with references to send you guys in the next couple days, but wanted to put myself on your radar. I’m sure you will be getting hundreds of applicants and hope that you will consider me.
I have been babysitting and nannying for 12 years, and have stayed extremely close with my all my long term kiddos. They are family to me. I am a substitute teacher, have a background in child development (working towards a minor), photographer, artist, and studying to become an Art Educator. My life’s passion has always been teaching children. As an artist, I try to teach children to see and appreciate all the beauty and wonder in the world- whether it be physical or unseen. As a member of society, bent on making any improvement in the world I can, I try to teach children ethical values, kindness, and understanding.
I spent a month traveling the states alone and several weeks traveling alone in Europe- I am highly sufficient with travel and extremely easy going. In this time I met many new friends and gained so many life-changing perspectives. I hope the same for you and your children.
I hope you will keep an eye out for my email this upcoming week!
**Best of luck finding your perfect fit!**

    Hi MT,

I submitted the filled in application form a little earlier. I’m Anne Joseph from India, Bangalore. I don’t know if you are open to foreign nannies, but I’ve applied all the same. I’m completely fascinated by your outlook of life. It’s beautiful. Staying close to the family and including them in your adventures, Wow!! You are a free spirit, with lots of love, adventure and curiosity. I was the same as you earlier, but we don’t get such chances to make our dreams come true. I don’t want to brand myself in one category. I’m simple, friendly, fun loving, love to make others smile, find joy in the simplest things in life, love kids, animals, history, travel, comedy and various other activities. My complete bio-data is in the application form. You are adventure and excitement and I’d love to be part of it. I’m putting together a video to send to you. Hope I’ll be lucky to be chosen. Have a wonderful and happy life dear. May you have many more years of adventurous, exciting, fun filled, loving life with your family.

this was refreshing to read. i hope my marriage is like yours one day. i’m 19 so i have time 🙂 i guess my brand is authenticity. i strive for it every day. i strive to show up and let myself be seen, truly seen, by others. the point of life is not to be fearless, but to learn to meet your fears face to face. the point of living is not to be perfect, but to love yourself and others while you are improving. true self love is allowing yourself to feel afraid. or happy. or sad. or excited. or amused. it is allowing your pain to hurt, your tears to fall, your soul to laugh, and your joy to penetrate the moment. it takes a lot of vulnerability to truly feel. to be present in every moment. to give and take with love. its so easy to get caught up in society’s fallacy that certain feelings make you weak. that being scared, lonely, or sad makes you less than. well i say that every human emotion is so vital to love, belonging , empathy, creativity, joy, and lesson learning. some feelings have dropped off letters in the mailbox of my soul, only to be opened with the tearing of my heart at the sight of the words. some have painted new pictures on the canvas of my mind. some feelings have torn through me like an arrow, piercing through forest trees and into a beasts back. some feelings have danced around inside me for days somehow turning gears that made me smile the whole time. some feelings have trickled through my body like rain, drenching my spirit with a conformation of truth. feelings. i love all of them. and i love me through all of them.

Hello family Tillotson! Your trip is an amazing idea. I would be delighted to share that with you. I introduce myself, my name is Megane, I am 22 years old. I come from France, but I’m born in Switzerland. So I have two nationalities. My mother was born in america, in brooklyn precisely (this travel can be a way to see where my mother is born too). I traveled to Australia for 8 months, which allowed me to have a good level in English. To be totally honest with you I don’t have a diploma in childcare. But I keep more times than I can remember my little sister and my little brother and My uncle’s children and I did babysitting. This experience may prove to be a true journey of sharing and learning. I could learn French to your children as they can make me progress in English. While discovering the cultures that make up our world, landscapes ect… If you are interested do not hesitate to contact me or if you need more information about me. We can also do a skype to see and talk. Thank you very much for reading me. Kisses to all the family 🙂
